My Immortals

Here's a photo of my first unit of Immortals, though I'm sorely tempted to get more for the p/e Zaal theme forces.  The UA is still on the painting table (will probably be finished in the same batch as the TyCom and Vorkesh).

The lighting isn't the best, but I'm really happy with how they turned out.

A lot of stuff is happening all at once in the non-WarmaHordes areas of my life, so I haven't been playing, but I'm trying to keep up with my painting schedule.

They Believe in Nothing!

I'm still here.  I just got derailed by life for a bit.

As of posting this, I've finished my Nihilators.  Behold!

And I'm looking forward to running the painted unit.  I'm still on the fence for who to bring for Adepticon.  Makeda 3 is locked in, and since I want to do ADR, I'm torn between eHexeris and eZaal as a second list.  I have a pretty good idea of a shooty eHexy list I want to run, but that requires a hoksune of a lot of work if I'm going to meet Adepticon's painting requirement.  I'm still considering what I want to run for eZaal.  I suspect it will take more games to find out.

And there was much rejoicing: Maxtermynd Joins 4+ Tough!

Hello! The name's Maxtermynd and I've been invited to bring a taste of the Madison meta to 4+ Tough as well as a dedicated Retribution (and, when I eventually go back to it, Khadoran) view on the game. I love my futuristic elves and their space robots, and not only because they finally let me use the color orange on an army but because they are fast, hit hard, force slap things around like Jedi knights and reward a combined arms approach to Warmachine.

Space. Robots.

Currently I'm working on mastering a couple of our 'casters for competitive play, which for me means play a list 5 times, switch around a few things, and continue the process until it becomes muscle memory and I have a list I like. To prevent my battle reports from getting too boring I'll try to switch between my current Steamroller or Master's pair every few games that I actually report, as well as the occasional speculative ramble. I'm just that kind of guy.

Also sword guns and/or gun swords.

So, what to expect from me:
  • Battle reports! And if I can find my video gear maybe even video battle reports. Madison meta's pretty brutal sometimes, so I'll likely get my ass handed to me, but it should be educational at the very least.
  • Tactica! I'll try to stay only to things that I actually have the experience to talk about, but I do love me some speculative conjecture as well.
  • Pretty models! I've got an airbrush and I'm not afraid to use it. I'm planning on having the entirety of the Retribution painted and based by the end of the year (except maybe a Gorgon... Heavy Rifle team only becuase it's so damn pretty), and I'll be showing off my progress/getting you all to guilt me into doing it here. There are also a few ridiculous conversion projects that I have in the works (three words: Beach. Party. Blowout.), so stay tuned for those as well.

Until next time, shank a round ear for me!

Modeling Post: Cataphracts and Praetorian Swordsmen

So as it turns out, I didn't do the tournament, but I did find the time to get started on my Cataphract Cetrati.  I think this guy is a promising start.  The face turned out really well for me, especially the shading.  One thing about these knobby Skorne heads - it's really clear what's protruding and what's recessed.  He has a little Crazy Eye, and a little Super Sneer, but I like him.

I still have a lot to do with the guy (mostly highlights, and the Shield, Spear, Shoulder Pads, and OMG Flags), but this is most likely what the unit will look like.

On to Praetorians.  I've always been a little weirded out by their poses.  Some of the ones in the gallery kind of look like they're flailing their swords around aimlessly.  When I posed mine, I tried to fix the arms so that the Swordsman's gaze would be in line with the sword itself.

I really like the effect I got with some of them...

The position on the raised arm is actually pretty close to what I learned to do in Kendo back in the day.  I'm looking forward to painting this one.

Some of my others, though, are less purposeful looking...

BLEEARRRGH!  I'LL GET YOU POWER RANGERS IF ITS THE LAST THING I DO!!

Don't really know what to do with the yelly ones.  I suppose they'll look pretty good all painted up.  More pics as the story unfolds.

Finally, it turns out I have approximately a bajillion cat pictures.  Here's one of them on/in their favorite piece of furniture.

I really achieved the right degree of botheredness with Pax up there.
