Belated June Tournament Report!

Hey everyone!

Almost 2 months ago now, I went to a local tournament.  As usual, I had a great time, and even won a couple games.  Here are the lists I took:

Renegade Open Team Tournament Reports

As I said sometime last year (sorry folks, I had to let the blog drop to take care of myself), I went to the Renegade Open, and played in a couple of Warmachine tournaments there.  The first one was the team tournament on Friday night, a 3-person event.  I was the captain of Team 4+ Tough, which also included my co-blogger Caleb, and friend of the blog and frequent opponent Ben.

Imperial Warhost

This is old news at this point, but the Skorne command book was pre-released at GenCon, and a new theme was revealed (and added to Warroom): the Imperial Warhost.  So today, I'm going to talk about that, and make a list I think will be a lot of fun.

For this theme, you can take any Warlock and the following:

Wednesday Battle Report: Makeda 3 vs. Borka 2 - 75pts

Here's the game I played last Friday.  I wanted to try out the bug version of my Makeda 3 list, and Caleb had some Trollblood lists he was interested in trying.  We decided to do a Steamroller-esque pairing, and drop what we thought would work best.

My two lists were the Hexeris 2 list I played in this game, which I like a lot, and the following Makeda 3 list:

Using Makeda 3: My First Impressions

Sorry for the lack of battle report this week.  I didn't play on Tuesday, and I didn't really feel like dredging my phone for ancient pictures.  Life is busy, but I'm scheduled to play tonight, and I hope to have a report written up by next Wednesday.

Now on to the main topic.  As I've said before, Makeda 3 was my favorite Warlock in MkII, and I've been spending a fair amount of time seeing what I think of her in MkIII.  There have been some major changes in the way Mak3da plays, and the way Skorne needs to play to keep up with a meta which - you guessed it - has charged a lot.  So I'm going to try to look at Makeda 3 with fresh eyes, and talk about her in terms of what works with her now.

Wednesday Battle Report: Makeda 3 vs. Rhyas 1 - 75pts

Hey everyone.  My internet is fixed!  Meaning I can post again from a platform other than my phone.  I didn't get the chance to play yesterday, so here's my second game from last week.  I'd been brainstorming about Makeda 3, and I wanted to try out one of my lists:

Mak3da Musings

I'm trying to try new things with Makeda 3 right now, to figure out what I want to do with her in the new edition.  I've tried the Mammoth build, and couple of heavy beast builds, but nothing has really clicked for me so far.  I've spent a lot of the weekend wondering what I really want from a Makeda 3 list, and I keep on coming up with things similar to the Brute Squad I was running in MkII.

Wednesday Battle Report: Makeda 3 vs. Calandra 1 - 75pts

Hi again everyone.  The Battle Report is a little later in the day today than I normally like to post it.  I spent most of the morning making some updates to the blog, and working on other things.  I'll explain everything on Monday.  Tardiness aside, I was able to attend WarmaHordes night on Tuesday, and I was able to get a game in.  I'm still experimenting with a Makeda 3 Mammoth list I built:

Wednesday Battle Report: Makeda 3 vs. Constance 1 - 75pts

My first battle report of the all new war.  I've played a bunch of games before this one, and I will very likely post the reports.  If I don't post them as full blow-by-blow battle reports, I'll give the short version when I discuss the 'caster or list archetype I used in a tactics post.  Now, on to the report!

Lists and Thoughts

My absolute favorite Warlock in MkII was Makeda and the Exalted Court, a.k.a. Makeda 3 or Mak3da.  She was incredibly fun to play, and performed well against a lot of the lists I went up against regularly.  In MkIII, she's changed a bit, and I'm still playing around trying to find something that really clicks with her.  People online have been talking up Makeda 3 with the Mammoth, so I decided to try out:
